Scope (scope-io.com) helps businesses answer their customers in chat and messaging. This page describes how we handle data when you use the product or connect Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp.
What we collect
- Account details you create (username and password hash).
- Business settings you save (email and Meta connections).
- Messages, page/account IDs, and related metadata from Messenger, Instagram, or WhatsApp when you connect Meta.
- Knowledge-base text you upload for the assistant.
- Customer details that appear in conversations, such as name, phone number, social media profile name, voice notes and ratings.
Customer conversations
Customers may share personal details, order information or other content in their messages. Scope does not ask for sensitive information it does not need. Anything a customer shares is stored only as part of that conversation, so your business can respond, and is processed only to provide the service. We do not use it for advertising or sell it. The business that receives the messages controls them and is responsible for how it uses them; Scope processes them on the business's behalf.
How we use it
We use this data only to operate the service: authentication, customer support workflows, and AI replies you configure. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use customer conversations to train AI models.
Meta platform data
If you connect Facebook Login, a Page, Instagram, or WhatsApp, we request access tokens and webhook events so we can send and receive those conversations. We use that data only to provide messaging inside Scope for your business.
Storage and sharing
We share data only with the service providers we use to run Scope, and only as needed to provide the service:
- Supabase — database and authentication (accounts, business settings, customers, and conversations).
- Cloudflare R2 — file storage for message media.
- Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) — sending and receiving customer messages, when you connect it.
- AI model providers — processing conversation text to generate the assistant’s replies.
Data is stored on our providers' cloud infrastructure and may be processed in countries other than your own. It is encrypted in transit, and access is limited to your business's team and the Scope staff who need it to run and support the service.
Retention
We keep conversations, customer profiles and business settings for as long as your account is active. When an account is closed, or a deletion request is confirmed, we delete the data within 30 days (see Data deletion below). Backups are removed on their normal schedule. We may keep limited records where the law requires it.
Data deletion
You can ask us to delete your data from Scope at any time.
Business account holders
- Email scope.io.ai@gmail.com from the address registered on your account, with the subject "Delete my data".
- Tell us your business name so we can find your account.
- We confirm your request and delete your account, team members, knowledge base, customers and conversations.
To stop data flowing from Meta without deleting your account, disconnect the channel on the Integrations page, or remove Scope from your Facebook or Instagram settings under Business Integrations.
Customers
If you messaged a business on WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger or website chat and want your messages and profile deleted, email scope.io.ai@gmail.com with the name of the business and the phone number or account name you used. You can also ask the business directly.
What gets deleted
- Account and profile details.
- Conversations, messages, voice notes and media.
- Customer profiles and ratings.
- Meta access tokens and connection details.
We aim to complete deletion within 30 days of confirming your request. Backups are removed on their normal schedule. We may keep limited records where the law requires it.
